Clayton County Georgia consists of the following cities:
College Park actually straddles Fulton and Clayton counties. Established in 1896, College Park was named when Cox College moved there and is Georgia's fourth largest urban National Register District.
Forest Park home of Fort Gillem - a satellite installation of Headquarters, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort McPherson and the famous State Farmers Market (a 146 acre State Owned Market) Forest Park was developed as a "wood and water stop" known as "Stump Town". This may have been derived from the stumps left as trees were cut to provide fuel for the passenger and freight trains going in and out of Atlanta.
Jonesboro the county seat of Clayton County, Georgia it was incorporated as a town in 1859 and named after Capt. Samuel G. Jones, a railroad surveyor. Jonesboro received international attention in 1936, with the publication of Margaret Mitchell's novel, Gone with The Wind. Numerous scenes of this book were set in Clayton County. Her 'Gone With the Wind' Letters 1936-1949," edited by the late University of Georgia professor Richard Harwell name some of the actual models for characters and homes, and discusses her research methods.
Lake Citylocated between Forest Park and Morrow
Lovejoyhome of the confederate victory known as “Lovejoy Station”
Morrow located between College Park and Stockbridge along Interstate 75, it was named for the family of storeowner Radford E. Morrow
Riverdale the second largest city in Clayton County, it was named for Spratin Rivers, landowner who provided right-of-way to the railroad.

Clayton County Georgia , at 143 square miles, is the third smallest county in the state (out of 159) and the second smallest as well as the fifth most populous county in the 10-county region, larger only than Rockdale.
